MISSION COMMITTEE

Today(8th July) is SEA SUNDAY. Please pray for seafarers around the world who often face danger and harsh conditions and upon whom we rely for 90% of the goods we use every day. Please pray, too, for the MISSION TO SEAFARERS  which reaches out to seafarers with a message of Christian love and offers practical help to an often forgotten and marginalised workforce.

PCC


The new PCC met on May 16th following a celebration of the 
Eucharist and co-opted Rebecca Herrick and Rob Richmond 
as members for the next year. It then elected Roger Mansfield 
as vice-chairman, Rob Richmond as treasurer, Mary Dicken
as secretary and Janet Martin as Electoral Roll officer. Thanks
were expressed to Sharon Compton for her eight years as treasurer
and she was presented with some flowers and a gift and given the 
best wishes of the council for her forthcoming charity event on 
Hadrian's Wall. A copy of the Electoral Roll as accepted at the
APCM is available on the table by the door. New committee 
membership will be decided very shortly and details will be on 
the notice board. The PCC meets again in July.

Annual Parochial Church Meeting

This was held on April 18 in church. Sally Bard and Roger Mansfield were re-elected as Churchwardens and Roberta Boatman as deputy churchwarden. Roberta Boatman, Janet Martin and Janet Marven were elected to serve on the PCC for three years. Sharon Compton was warmly thanked for her service as treasurer over the last eight years. Rob Richmond will take over from her shortly. Roger Boatman, Pauline Finbow, John Harvey, Suella Hunting, Barbara Hylton, Judith Lovell, Janet marven and Betty Thurston were appointed as sidesmen. Other reports were received. The papers from the meeting, including the accounts for 2011, are available on the table for anyone interested.

A Time For Remembrance

‘A TIME FOR REMEMBRANCE’

 This is a service for all those affected by the death of a child –

 either a baby during pregnancy, at birth or in babyhood,

 or a child during childhood or adulthood.

DEDICATION OF FRONTAL AND VESTMENTS

Bishop Stephen will be coming to St Mary's
on 13th May
to dedicate the restored Altar Frontal and Vestments 
during the (combined) 10.30 Family Eucharist Service.  

This will be followed by a Bring and Share lunch
in St Mary's Community Hall, 
during which we shall be able to meet, 
and thank, the NADFAS volunteers 
who so kindly carried out the restoration work.  

Please sign the list on the table if you are coming 
and let Sue Hunting know if you are willing to help on the day.

Our next church magazine will be 
published on Sunday, 3 June 
and the committee hope to make it
 a special Jubilee Jamboree Journal!  
 If you have ANY royal memories 
please send them, as soon as possible, 
hand them to Sue, Petra, Jose or Mary Richmond asap.  

We shall also need the regular contributions and the 
closing date will be strictly 13 May
earlier is much preferred and will guarantee inclusion.
