Mission

MISSION PLATE 

Our collection in September, October and November are for CHURCH ARMY, sometimes referred to as "the Church of England's best-kept secret". Its officers work with the young, the elderly, the homeless the marginalised in society, taking the Gospel to where people are : "Love in Action".

CRISIS IN EAST AFRICA 

Millions of people in the Horn of Africa are facing famine. Many have already died. Please give generously to the appeal for help. There is a jar on the table by the door for your donations

MISSION COMMITTEE 

The latest newsletter from Ruth tells us that the Anglican Church in the Diocese of the Amazon is celebrating its 100th anniversary. She asks for our prayers for the wellbeing of vulnerable communities and children in the Amazon River who struggle to make ends meet, and for protection for peaceful activists who are seeking an end to the destruction of the rainforest

SHOE-BOXES - a Reminder

 Please bring your filled shoe-boxes to church no later than SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 20th.


Journeys course at 7:30pm up at the Church Hall for 4 weeks until the 4th Dec, then there will be a film show on the 11th Dec in church on the life of Martin Luther;

16 October 10.45 St, Mary’s Harvest Festival – There will be a Harvest Lunch at 12:30pm in the church hall:- tickets are £5 each. There will be an auction of harvest goods in aid of tearfund projects in Africa

23 October There will not be Open Door

25, 26, 27 Holiday Club - at the Free Church at 9:30am until 12;30pm each morning, the theme is Knights and Maidens.

30 October is All Saints Day; Holiday Club Closing Service at 10.45.

NOVEMBER

6 November "Journey" series begins.


6 November at 3.00 p.m. – Remembering Sunday

13 November Remembrance Sunday

19 November Jumble Sale

20 November – Christ the King - the speaker for the Services today will be Capt Alan Lowe of the Church Army

26 November Quiz Evening in Community Hall beginning at 7.00 p.m.

4 December Last session of "Journeys"

11 December Christingle at 10.30. p.m.

Election of a Churchwarden

At the meeting last Sunday for the Election of a Churchwarden, Sally Bard was elected and will serve as churchwarden until the APCM in 2012.

Jumble Sale

The Jumble Sale on September 18 raised a very magnificent £475 with many thanks to everyone who contributed. The next sale is on October 15.

CHILDREN'S SOCIETY COFFEE EVENING

Thank you to everyone who attended the coffee evening on 8 September in support of the Children’s Society. Special thanks to Betty Thurston – and to John as the technical support – for the thoroughly enjoyable talk on their recent trip to Texas to see Kathy in her new home. We raised £95.00 in total from donations and the raffle - £75.00 on the evening and £20.00 from an individual donation. Many thanks again. Janet Martin
